Jewelers Mutual Acquires Gem + Jewel

Insurers Jewelers Mutual Group has acquired Gem + Jewel, the e-commerce platform for independent jewelers and designers, for an undisclosed sum.

Gem + Jewel was launched by industry veteran Shelia Bayes, based in Lexington, Kentucky, USA, in 2018.

Jewelers Mutual say the acquisition will allow jewelers to expand their customer base more efficiently and grow their e-commerce businesses.

Gem + Jewel will be incorporated into Jewelers Mutual’s Zing platform, powered by IDEX Online, which digitally connects jewelers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and others.

“Ultimately, our goal is to help jewelers more efficiently expand their customer base and effectively grow their e-commerce businesses,” said said Mike Alexander, Jewelers Mutual executive vice president.
